I miss them so much. I miss their dense, bagely goodness. I miss sesame seeds, poppy seeds. That smooth glazed exterior of a good kettle-boiled bagel.

We used to buy ours every Saturday or Sunday from Wegmans. Fresh from the oven. Steaming up the plastic baggies so we knew they were still warm and gooey on the inside. Freeze them and then hoard them in the fridge and take them out one at a time like interest from a trust fund.

Sigh.

I miss bagels.
