I picked up Whiteout while I was in the States buying goodies. I love Ken Follett and have read almost everything he’s written. As far as thrillers go, this one is alright, but like most of the reviews on Amazon point out, it’s a pale shadow of the kind of exciting story and interesting characters that populated his earlier work.

Whenever anyone is looking for a good exciting read I point them in the direction of Key to Rebecca, Eye of the Needle, Pillars of the Earth, Dangerous Fortune, and Triple. Those were Follett’s best books and he hasn’t written really anything in the past fifteen years that has come close.
