Since I download a lot of TV episodes, I figured I would start naming our pub quiz visits the same way. S02E02 means “season two, episode two.” Try to keep up, I won’t repeat the instructions.

In a nutshell: we had a great time. Ian didn’t get too drunk and yell things at the quiz mistress that he thought were funny but really just don’t make any sense (as usual), we had a good festive atmosphere and got off to a good start on the picture round.

The theme was song titles, and they had made pictures to represent them. Some were easy like a hand in a pocket for “Hand in my Pocket,” or a rose in a desert for “Desert Rose.” But some were pretty hard. “Total Eclipse of the Heart” Ian got and good on him. I contributed a good one: the picture was a pole with street signs against the sky. The thing was, the signs were blanked out. “Where the Streets Have No Name,” I mumbled between mouthfulls of chicken tenders.

All in all, we kicked butt. Ten out of ten on the picture round and the first round, and an average of 8 on the others. The only thing that screwed us was the music round (we only got 11 out of 20).

Anyway, 3rd place. Go us. And we were only three points off of first place. Definitely doable.

At our full complement of five, the Table of Contents is a force to be reckoned with.

Ann has a bottle of pink champagne from the Aldi she is saving for the night when we finally get first place.
