Wow, what an amazing weekend of football. Of course, I had to sit glued to my computer screen watching the stats refresh on all the games from the NFL website, but still it was exciting.
First of all, Guze picked an incredible lineup. Guys who normally are a bit inconsistent, but Guze had some magic way of predicting that Tiki Barber would have more than 200 yards of offense and a touchdown AND a two point conversion. He also somehow knew that Larry Johnson would go for over 100, and that Payton Manning would throw for almost 300 yards and three TDs. Then, when Chris Chambers, who had only had 30 yds of receiving and one TD all game busted out with a 15 yd TD reception, I thought it was all over. Guze’s team scored 111 points, and when scoring over 100 in any game we have ever played I don’t believe Guze has ever lost.
Until last night.
A big shout out to Shaun Alexander who put up some INCREDIBLE numbers (170 total yards of offense and THREE touchdowns!) to keep me alive, and then Tory Holt, who had only one catch for like 4 yards until the fourth quarter when he caught a 17 yard TD pass, with only a few minutes to go in the game. And then Larry Fitzgerald catches a TD pass with a little over 2 minutes left to play in the game to give him 140 yards and a TD. Wow.
And still, with all of that, Guze and I were separated by only three points going into the last game. It all depended on Jeff Reed, the steelers kicker. If he could provide three points, I tie. Four points, I win.
Eleven points.
111 to 119, and that folks, is a record for yours truly.
Sweetest of all… my lead is back up to three games. 6-3.
