I am of course. Well, with a little help from my friend Mark Lorenc, who has been graciously hosting my site for free for the past four years. As all good things do, the free hosting had to come to an end when Mark had to move from New Jersey to Tennessee. Mark backed up my database and handed me a zipped version of it and the fantastic WordPress documentation took care of the rest.
I encountered a few technical glitches installing the WordPress software on my new host, but after an upgrade to the most recent version it all got worked out. Now I feel totally empowered (thanks Mark, thanks WordPress documentation writers), and my knowledge of MySql databases is incrementally improved.
I’ll probably change the design of the site to use a template that’s a bit more modern and supports widgets, but you probably don’t care about that. Come to think of it, you probably don’t care about this whole post, but I’m not going to let that take anything away from my amazing journey of self-discovery along the path to true blog independence.
