If you believe the hype, Kluwer is one of the world's leading international publishers of research science. It is also the place that employs me to develop electronic products, and I do my best to deliver.

As with any organization whose components include human beings, Kluwer is a dynamic and interesting place to work. There are office politics which get played out on an international stage, an impending sale of the company which causes great anxiety among employees some of which have been with the company for over a decade, there are new threats that threaten the academic publishing lanscape, and new opportunities in the application of technology to academic publishing.

There is also a lot of fun. It's easy to forget when you are desperately struggling to meet a budget that increases by double digits each year and are worried about whether you will have a job in a few months, but the truth is that fun is inescapable, where humans go it follows.
